Italy at two paces: the rails of convergence

Conference – Bocconi University, 18th April, 2016

Gap between the Northern and Southern Italy, commuting, high-speed railways, freight and linkings with Europe.

On 18th April, 2016, nextPA faced a sizeable theme for public opinion: railways. We were pleasured of having Riccardo Nencini, Italian Vice Minister for Infrastructures and Transportation, and Maurizio Gentile, Chief Executive Officer of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (Italian Railway Network). We were also grateful for the professional contribution given by Marco Percoco and Giovanni Fattore, both Full Professors at Bocconi University, and the one given by Alessio Ribaudo, journalist for Corriere della Sera.

Several interesting themes were discussed. Strategic infrastructures for the further development of the Italian railway system, concrete linkings between Northern and Souther Italy and, lastly, social and economic development opportunities.
